This is PART 1 of the VMware Esxi 6.5 install and configure.
VMware ESXi 6.5 has a while since has been released and its the latest version of hypervisor ESXi from VMware, which is the leader hypervisor on market. We will cover an installation of ESXi 6.5 with screenshots and step by step configuration.
First you need an iso image of the hypervisor, which you can get from myvmware site, after you login/register for the product. Here is the link.
I download the iso file, VMware Esxi 6.5 build 4887370 that I’ll be using on this demo. You can attach this iso on CD\DVD drive and connect or make a bootable usb drive and connect to machine (you can use rufus). Than you have to set boot order cd rom to come in first, in order to get into the iso image.
1- After you have made the above steps, the installer will present you with the following screen to get started:
The installer automatically is choosen and starts within a few seconds.
The installer begins with the familiar greeting and welcome us to continue. Press Enter.
In the next screen it is show end-user license agreement (EULA) and press the F11 key to continue.
The next screen presents you with a choice of destination. Where do you want to install ESXi 6.5? Choose your drive and press Enter to continue.
So next we have to choose the desired keyboard language and after that need to set up a root password. Root is a local account with all privileges; this is a required step, so be careful to remember it. Must use a complex password. Than press Enter to continue.
And finally, press F11 to begin the installation of ESXi.
Installer has begin and it last a few minutes to end. It is a very lightweight product that needs only a few gb of space.
After the installer finished, you are prompted to reboot the host, after ejecting the iso image. Press Enter. Now you can change the BIOS boot sequence back, though if the boot sequence is CD-ROM > Hard Disk.
Than host will reboot and start. This is the DCUI of the Esxi machine. And installation was successful.
In the next post, we will continue with the configuration of Esxi host through DCUI. Find here: VMware ESXi 6.5 Configuration
